Principles

Principles for Building Inclusive, Custom, Appealing, Scalable, and Natural User Interfaces

Tailus is committed to making the Web accessible to all users, regardless of their abilities or impairments. We believe that everyone deserves to have a positive and seamless online experience.

To achieve this goal, we have developed a set of principles that guide the design and development of our tools and resources. These principles are also intended to help users of our tools and resources build UI Kits, websites, and applications that are inclusive, custom, appealing, scalable, and natural to their users.

Natural and Familiar

Not a place for ambiguity, the design across all our tools and resources is easy to use and understand, following conventions that are already familiar to users. This means, using clear and concise layouts and the familiar interaction patterns.

Functionality First

Our design prioritizes functionality above all else. We ensure that all elements serve a purpose and contribute to the overall usability of the system. This approach helps users to quickly understand and use our tools effectively.

Appealing and Modern

While functionality is our top priority, we also strive to make our design visually appealing. We use modern design principles and aesthetics to create a pleasing user interface that enhances the overall user experience.

Customization as foundation

We understand that every brand has unique needs and preferences. That’s why we provide a wide range of customization options for our tools and resources, allowing users to create a design that is tailored to their specific requirements.

Consistent and Scalable

Our design is consistent across all tools and resources, providing a seamless user experience. We also ensure that our design is scalable, allowing for future growth and expansion without compromising on usability and performance.

Inclusive

We believe in inclusivity and strive to make our tools and resources accessible to all users, regardless of their technical skills or abilities. We follow best practices for accessibility to ensure that our design is user-friendly for everyone.

Tailus principles in action

Here are a few examples of how the Tailus principles can be applied to building inclusive, custom, appealing, scalable, and natural user interfaces:

  • Inclusive: Use high-contrast colors, avoid using text as images, and provide alternative text for all images.
  • Custom: Allow users to choose their own color schemes, font sizes, and other preferences.
  • Appealing: Use modern design principles and aesthetics, such as white space, clean lines, and bold colors.
  • Scalable: Design your UI using a modular approach so that it can be easily adapted to different screen sizes and devices.
  • Natural: Use familiar interaction patterns and avoid introducing new concepts that users may not be familiar with.

The principles outlined here serve as a guide for users of our tools and resources, ensuring that the designs they create align with these key tenets.

These principles are not just guidelines, but the foundation of our design philosophy, aimed at providing an optimal user experience. By adhering to these principles, users can ensure their designs are natural, functional, appealing, customizable, consistent, scalable, and inclusive.
